With designs that bear a color palette of soft, innocent pastels and playful motifs that decorate comfortable garments like glittery stickers to a Mead composition notebook. Its latest, and first launch into the home goods space is an official collaboration with Care Bears™️. The Tenderheart Bear rugs serve as a mascot for BSR’s childhood dreams. A grounding pad for inhibitions freed and dreams manifested — nostalgia has become tangible.
What does this collaboration mean to you? How does it stand apart from any of your other collabs thus far?
Care Bears has been an amazing partner that By Samii Ryan has been able to collaborate with. I would say that our core values both align, and we have the same message we want to share with the world. The launch into home good space is so exciting for us because we love being in our home and we wanted to share the love with others. This collaboration stands apart from others because it is our first piece of décor we’ve released. As a new category for the brand our customers have been in love with it! It’s a unique product that is an absolute must have for the cutest room you will ever have.

The timing of this collaboration, and your choice of Tenderheart Bear, couldn’t come at a better time when the world needs so much healing. Is there a message you want to convey with this collab?
By Samii Ryan's brand ethos is about kindness, positivity, and self-love. Being able to collaborate with Care Bears on this special product brings together both of our messages, help people share their feelings with other people. Tenderheart Bear spreads love and makes it grow, so there was no other Care Bear we wanted to feature more than Tenderheart Bear!
This is the first item from BSR that will serve as more of a functional home goods piece. What considerations did you keep in mind when designing this? How collaborative was the process between BSR and the Care Bears™️ brand?
Home is a place where you can be comfortable and express yourself through décor. My fiancé and I like to say our décor style is American heritage with a modern twist. We have a lot of art, trinkets, and a ton of plants to fill our home, some would say we are maximalists. Rugs are a way to bring a room together as a focal point. Creating this rug using official Care Bears artwork left us with a one-of-a-kind piece that will be a collectable in anyone’s home.
The design of the bear simulates the effect of being drawn with colored pencil. Sort of haphazard and carefree like you would color as a kid. Was this an intentional nod to the original paintings of artist Elena Kucharik?
Yes! When we collaborate with Care Bears some of the original assets come from the official archives from artist Elena Kucharik. On some of the Care Bear apparel items we have created in the past have her hand painted artwork and signature printed on the garments. It’s exciting to use the artwork from one of the most talented 1980’s children’s illustrators and create modern pieces with it.

As an Aries (typically known for their passion, confidence, and relentlessness) which belly badge would you say represents your personality most?
I’m going to have to say Tenderheart Bear. He’s very affectionate and not afraid to display his affection openly, which I feel like I can personally relate to. Care Bears in general have been such an inspiration for me because they bring out the good in people and want the best for others and consistently try to spread love.
Where did you decide to put your Tenderheart Bear rug? (Bedroom, studio, living room?)
We have our Tenderheart Bear rug in our son’s new nursery room! It’s honestly the most perfect rug for the space. It’s cute, detailed, and adds a pop of personality to the room.
If you could do another home goods collab with another iconic brand from your childhood, who would it be and what would the piece be?
There are so many iconic nostalgic brands I would love By Samii Ryan to collaborate with! I love bringing back the memory of childhood joy and happiness into the nostalgic pieces we create with our branded partners. We actually have another iconic collaboration coming out with a brand that features the sweetest gal and her friends who is berry sweet.. just to give a little hint.
