Food x Fashion
Food and fashion have been a thing for-ev-er (cue Squints from the Sandlot)
We’ve seen it everywhere: fashion editorials, Instagram - ok, remember the whole eating pasta in a glam fit trend? (Wait… is that still a trend?) - YouTube, you name it. It’s basically all over the internet. Within the last few years there has been a blossoming connection between streetwear and food. People want to rep the food they love, in style. Food has its trends too, hence the #eeeeeats hashtag on instagram with over 15M posts. They are two things that just naturally go hand in glove wink wink. Why not use a Big Mac or an In-and-Out Burger as a statement piece in your next fashion shoot? The two feed all the senses: sexy, mouth-watering, and enticing all at the same time. Okay, maybe those aren’t part of the five senses, but you catch my drift.
Not only are we seeing food featured in fashion shoots, but food companies are also finding fire ways to rep some cool merch, like McDonald’s collab with Beams making the infamous Big Mac a fashion statement. Dunkin’ Donuts also just recently dropped a sneaker with Saucony featuring America’s prized pastry - making it sort of a classic duo by having some fun with their slogan “America Runs On Dunkin.” That’s not all. Nike paired up with Momofuku to drop their sneaker collab, the Nike SB Dunk High “Momofuku.” This created ties between a unique target audience, that identifies with both Nike & Momofuku, and want to rep the “Lucky Peach.” Even tho they photograph them with lemons… The collabs go on and on!
FOOD X FASHION is the collab that we all can relate to. By Bringing food into fashion, We create a sense of commonality across cultures, no matter the brand. And you know what… It’s just straight up cool.
